Today the builders attached the drawer slides (mentioned in a previous post) to the prototype grabber claws. The drawer slides will give the robot maximum extension, and allow it move the grabbers up and down. The slides are necessary to score glyphs in the third and fourth rows of the crypto box. We went through many iterations and designs to get to this point, but initial testing without the string shows that the drawer slides are most effective, so we will be most likely be continuing with this concept as the final lifting mechanism. The next step from here is testing the slides with a motor and string, so we will most likely pursue this in the following meets.
